Stories from our BRIDGE Projects

Nurturing hearts & minds with Transformative Arts Programme

As part of our Bridge Initiative, Yellowren Productions partners Cape of Colours to bring the Transformative Arts Programme to schools across Singapore. This initiative supports students’ social, emotional, and creative well-being alongside their academic development.

We believe that art educates in ways beyond words. In a world that relies heavily on verbal and written communication, not every student flourishes through traditional teaching methods. The Transformative Arts Workshop is an 8-week programme tailored to diverse learning styles and offers an alternative path for expression and growth.

Through the creative process, even the most reserved students gain the confidence to participate and engage. As they create, reflect, and express themselves through art, students grow into the vision we hold for them. They are as capable and inspiring as we dare to imagine and we celebrate this transformation in a culminating showcase of their work.

We’re grateful to partner the following schools on this meaningful journey:

Si Ling Secondary School
Evergreen Secondary School
Yio Chu Kang Secondary School
North View Primary School
Corporation Primary School

Together, we are shaping a generation that is not only academically prepared but also emotionally resilient and creatively empowered.

I would recommend this programme to others because it will help students develop a growth mindset. The programme helped us build our resilience as well. At times, we encountered some difficulties, but the instructors were there to help us overcome the challenges.

A taste of innovation @ Cargill Innovation Center

We were thrilled to visit the newly renovated Cargill Innovation Center, thanks to our valued partner Cargill in Singapore. The upgraded facility features immersive spaces such as a state-of-the-art test kitchen and the inspiring Chocolate Academy.

Our student beneficiaries from Northbrooks Secondary School had the unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of Food & Nutrition through a series of hands-on culinary experiences. From crafting donuts and frappes to experimenting with chocolate, the students explored the art and science of food using all five senses.

It was a truly eye-opening day, as the students stepped into the shoes of culinary innovators, bringing their textbook knowledge to life in the most delicious way possible. They left inspired by the creativity, precision, and possibilities on display at Cargill’s Innovation Center.

Colour Your World by ACSI

We bridged a group of volunteer students from ACS International with young learners in our Free Tuition Programme to nurture a love for reading. In response to the growing need to cultivate reading habits among children, the volunteers designed a 3-session reading initiative titled “Colour Your World.”

This engaging programme transported our primary school learners into the realms of adventure, mystery, and fantasy. Together, they explored captivating stories, created imaginative maps, and uncovered secrets hidden within mystery books. To further bring the stories to life, the children also designed bookmarks, and book covers with hands-on activities that sparked their creativity and deepened their connection with the stories. “Colour Your World” not only made reading fun and interactive, but also inspired creative thinking and self-expression, leaving a lasting impact on the children’s learning journey.

Warwick University x Si Ling Secondary School

Cape of Colours helped to bridge student volunteers from Warwick Finance Societies, Warwick University with students of Si Ling Secondary School. It was a meaningful exchange as the students interacted, shared their cultures and experiences and together brought cheers to the residents of a home for the disabled, featuring wonderful band and dance performances from Si Ling Secondary School.

We have just returned back from Singapore. All the students very much enjoyed the volunteering project with Cape of Colours. It was great to connect with younger students, and it was a rewarding and eye-opening opportunity to spend time with Metta Home residents. We will be sure to get in touch when we are in Singapore again.

Assistive Technology @ Lighthouse School

Lighthouse School was our first Bridge Project, launched in 2012 to support this special school, which serves children who are visually and/or hearing impaired, or have intellectual challenges. Our goal was to enhance their learning environment and help each student reach their full potential through the strategic integration of assistive technology.

Our initial contribution included the acquisition and setup of 7 iMacs, 3 MacBook Pros, and 6 units of Refresher Braille devices. These tools significantly improved the accessibility and quality of learning for the students.

In 2013, we added two sets of SmartView 360 electronic desktop magnifiers. These devices help students with low vision by enlarging printed text, allowing them to read more comfortably and effectively. That same year, Cape of Colours also donated a colour photocopier to the school, enabling the production of vibrant educational charts and diagrams as essential visual aids for students with hearing impairments.

In January 2015, Cape of Colours further supported Lighthouse School with the purchase of a Topaz desktop video magnifier. This device offers up to 77x magnification, reducing the visual strain on students with significant vision impairments and helping them engage more fully with their studies.

GEMS @ Northland Secondary School

Cape of Colours collaborated with Northland to sponsor a group of Secondary 3 and 4 at-risk youths in its GEMS Programme on a 7-day trip to Hainan Island, China where they participated in both community works and cultural exchange. Cape of Colours also sponsored two Panasonic Lumix Digital Cameras and conducted two sessions of hands-on videography training for the students in preparation for the trip.
